Homemade Cookie Mix Jars (with Free Label Printable!) | ModernMuslimHome.com

Not too long ago, we posted a blog post called, "Halal and Fabulous: 8 Tips on Throwing a Stellar Party." In it, we shared easy, fun ideas to help you host an amazingly memorable get-together. We received great feedback on it and are happy to know Muslims like to party!

One of the ideas we shared was making homemade cookie mix jars - super fun as both party favors and gifts (originally inspired by one of our favorite food bloggers, Bakerella). Since so many of you loved the idea, we decided to give you detailed instructions on how to make them and on top of that, we're offering the cookie jar label as a free printable you can download, here

Instructions on making a gift everyone is sure to love:

1. Buy a quart-sized mason jar.

2. Layer in the following ingredients, packed very tightly, in this order:

First: 1 1/3 cup all purpose flour (spooned into measuring cup & leveled)
Second: 1 teaspoon baking powder
Third: 1 teaspoon baking soda
Fourth: 1/4 teaspoon salt
Fifth: 1 cup cooking oats
Sixth: 3/4 cup m&ms (fun tip: find different colored m&ms during holiday seasons!)
Seventh: 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Eighth: 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
Ninth: 1/2 cup white sugar

3. Label the mason jar with the following instructions:

“Mix 1 slightly beaten egg, 1/2 cup butter (melted slightly in the microwave), and 1 teaspoon vanilla into dry ingredients from jar. Use the back of a large spoon or your hands to work it all together. Then, roll the cookie dough into 1 1/2 inch balls, place on a foil covered baking sheet and bake for about 12-14 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven. Recipe yields ~25 cookies.”

Or, skip step 3 and download the label we've made for you, here: https://www.modernmuslimhome.com/freebies/CookieMixLabels.docx. Print on 3.3" x 4" sticker labels (template 8164 if you buy the Avery brand) or just print on regular paper, cut, and adhere to the jar.

We hope you and your friends enjoy!
